Challenge's context and topic

The Transalley technology park's incubator, which is labelled by the Hauts-de-France region, is launching the second edition of their contest for the creation of an innovative business in the area of transportation.

Transalley is the centre of excellence dedicated to the innovative and sustainable mobility, in the heart of the most important french region in terms of automotive and rail industries. Located in Valenciennes next to the University, it gathers companies, research teams and operators of the sustainable mobility in the same place, offering its residents an environment conductive to developing their innovations.

The contest's aim is to pick innovative business creation projects with high growth potential as well as start-ups.

Projects have to be part of the areas of interest : urban, digital, accessible and sustainable mobility, intelligent transport systems. Prizes include price money, housing, mentoring and coaching as well as networking with r&d and industrials.

Startup in motion 2017 Winners

First Winner

Project « La Galoche » led by Pierre-Adrien Ducarre – Paris (75) - winner of the 5000€ BDL Great Prize and winner of the Orange Connected project award.

Future ESSEC graduate, Pierre-Adrien gathered a team of designers to change our vision on scooters. They created the first elegant, customizable and connected scooter.


Corporate Service Award Winner

Project « Mécar'tisan » led by Etienne Thépenier – La Sentinelle (59).

Etienne offers an innovative service to companies, allowing them to gain significantly in competitiveness through an internet platform meant to avoid the disappearance of rare professional skills in the engineering industries.


2.0 Industry Award Winner

Project « Auto 3D Print » led by Quantin Leurent – Hem (59).

Quentin is an expert in internet traffic management. He partnered with a local manufacturer to offer a new B2B marketplace connecting 3D printing professionals with automotive and rail industries companies.


Technological Project Award Winner

Project “SBBrakes” led by Samir Bakhta – Saint-Denis (93).

Samir is passionate about mechanics. He offers an innovative brake system designed for passenger vehicles, relying on a hydraulic pump rather than ordinary friction brakes.


Mobility Service Award Winner

Project “Val'Transport” led by Abdoulaye Traoré – Valenciennes (59).

Studying at the Université de Valenciennes et du Hainaut-Cambrésis, Abdoulaye offers a personal assistant mobile application made for public transport users.
